Going back-to-back: WrestleMania returns to Las Vegas in 2026

On Saturday, it was announced that, in an unprecedented move, WrestleMania would be returning to Las Vegas. It’s the first time in the modern era that the showcase of the immortals would go back-to-back in one city. The last time was in 1988 and 1988 for the fourth and fifth versions of the pro wrestling spectacular.

WrestleMania 42 will take place at Allegiant Stadium on April 18 and 19, 2026. The announcement video, which aired on the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Money in the Bank premium live event, showed Paul Levesque, chief content officer of WWE, proclaiming that “anything worth doing is worth doing twice.”

“So I’ve got just one question for you, are you ready to double down” Levesque asked in the video.

In April, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) brought WrestleMania 41 to the sports and entertainment capital of the world. Alongside the two-night mega event came a considerable number of sidecar events, including live television programming like WWE’s Raw, SmackDown, NXT Stand and Deliver, and the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. Additionally, the WWE World fan experience took over the Las Vegas Convention Center for nearly an entire week.

On Feb. 21, The Rock announced the home of WrestleMania 42 on an episode of Friday Night SmackDown; however, plans changed between that date and May 23. Paul Levesque, chief content officer of WWE, announced officially that the sports entertainment company would be “shifting dates” on its event calendar. New Orleans will host the Money in the Bank premium live event on Aug. 29, 2026. Levesque encouraged fans to stay tuned for an announcement regarding a future WrestleMania event in the “Big Easy” at a later date.

The announcement begged the question, where will WrestleMania 42 be held? The immediate frontrunner online became Las Vegas, with several professional wrestling journalists confirming that WWE was in negotiations with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) to once again host the event in 2026.

A year ago, the LVCVA officially approved $5 million to sponsor WrestleMania 41, an event that WWE deemed “the most successful and highest-grossing event in company history.” The event drew 124,693 wrestling fans across its two nights at Allegiant Stadium, and more than 50,000 attendees to the WWE World fan event. It occurred on what LVCVA officials called a perennially slow Easter weekend in Las Vegas, bringing an influx of traffic to the sports and entertainment capital of the world. In a conversation at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) trade show, Nick Khan, WWE’s president, spoke to the scale of WrestleMania in Las Vegas, saying that the LVCVA favors events that span several days.

“They love multi-night events, what they refer to as ‘heads in beds.’ They have people coming in from all around the country and other parts of the world… staying in Las Vegas,” Khan said.
